The 4 hour Just Culture Managers training utilizes self-paced computer-led instruction with embedded scenarios to equip learners with foundational knowledge and skills needed to understand and manage four specific dimensions needed to create a sustainable Just  Culture:

  1. Continuous learning and psychological safety
  2. Robust system design
  3. Management of behavioral choices
  4. Consistency in application of justice and accountability

Objectives

As a result of active participation in the learning session and successful completion of the competency exam, participants will be able to:

  1. List key attributes and benefits of a Just Culture
  2. Identify the role of organizational mission and values in establishing a values-centric framework for workplace justice (“just culture”)
  3. Describe how individual performance and system design contribute to outcomes and the managers’ role in improving each.
  4. Identify components of a robust system design
  5. List and describe the spectrum of 5 behaviors assessed within a just culture framework.
  6. Identify and sequence the 5 elements of a threshold (event) investigation and its importance in creating a learning organization.
  7. Describe the three duties contained within the Just Culture Algorithm that create the basis for assessing workplace conduct.
  8. Describe the elements contained within the Just Culture Algorithm related to the management of repetitive conduct and the body of work.
  9. Recognize the leadership role of mercy, grace, and forgiveness to establish a sustainable Just Culture.
